Alexander Technique
Throughout our lives we pick up habits in the way we move; over-tightening our muscles and interfering in our natural coordination. This can result in discomfort and pain, however because we have come to accept our habits as ‘normal’ we are unaware that we are causing the problem!

The Alexander Technique teaches you a unique way of changing these negative habits, building an awareness of how you move and allowing you to release unnecessary tension. It is not a therapy, more a re-education of the mind and body. As you become more aware of what you are habitually doing in such tasks as sitting, standing or walking, you are able to choose to respond in a more useful and constructive way. Gradually this allows you to make lasting improvements to your overall movement and health.

The Alexander Technique is best taught on a one-to-one basis, whereby the teacher can focus on your individual needs. Using gentle hands-on guidance and verbal cues, the teacher will take you through basic, everyday movements to help you to recognise and unlearn the habits of compression which interfere with your natural poise. This will result in the release of harmful muscular tension giving a more natural coordination and balance, ease of movement and sense of well-being.

One-to-one lessons are available in Burghfield Common.
Introductory lesson (approx 60 mins) - £40
Subsequent lessons (35 - 40 mins) - £32
